Reflection December 2nd 2010

Today, was our last day in music. We are going to have music again in one year. In semester 2 of grade 7. I will miss music very much and, i will promise to practice whenever i have time so, when i have music again in grade 7 i will be good in my instrument. Today, some of my classmates (the boys from guitar) were late and, since its the last day for music mr sadrakh punished them by telling them to salute the clock and say "I love you time" and also, "sorry time" again and again. It was very very funny to me and my friends. we also got our scores for our blogger and our MDW. For my blog I got 8 out of 8 and for the MDW i also got 8 out of 8. I am very proud and happy for that. Thank you Mr sadrakh and the other teachers for teaching us (mr hary, ms melvina, mr harry, mr john etc.0

Reflection 29th November 2010

Today, some of my classmates (with unsatisfying scores) redo their pentatonic scale melody performing. I was,  already very satisfied and proud of my score because of that, I decided not to redo. I have already finished my reflection for the playing my melody (last week) and, also the reflection for the student development. It was about the assessment and things we have done since the beggining of Grade 6. I think that i did pretty well on both of my reflections. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Reflection November 25th 2010

Today, we had our melody creation performance. I was very nervous when i started. but, towards the end i did not feel scared or nervous anymore. I think i did a pretty good job. My friends did well too. I hope, that from all the hard work i spent practicing i will get a get a highscore. :)

Reflection November 1th 2010

Today, some of my classmates rehearsed their melody again. Some of them still didn't practice it. I have been practicing. I hope i can reach my goal (get highscore!!!) I cannot write much because, we did the rehearsing already for a lot of weeks.

Reflection November 15th 2010

Today, we didn't do much. We heard some of our classmates rehearse for the assessment (playing the pentatonic scale melody.) I think, I have to practice harder at home so, I can get a highscore for this assessment. Some people, still have to improve because some of them don't practice at all. Mr sadrakh was quite dissapointed in some people that did that. I hope that every body can practice well and also perform well so we can achieve a good score and make Mr Sadrakh proud of us instead of being ashamed of us. I am halfway done practicing my melody but, sometimes i still make mistakes so I will improve on that. :)

Reflection November 11th 2010

Today, some of our classmates rehearsed their melody. Most of them were pretty good. I also rehearsed my melody. I think i did pretty good but, i could do better. I want to get a full score on the assessment day (November 25th 2010) to achieve my goal i need to practice and rehearse everyday. I am starting from today. I hope everyone will get a good score and make Mr. Sadrakh proud!!! :) :) :)

Reflection November 8th 2010

Today, one person from each instrument group rehearsed for our assessment on playing our melody. I didn't play today. I will rehearse on Thursday. When i hear my other classmates played most of them sound pretty good and i hope that i can  be like them on Thursday. To achieve this i will practioce even harder on my melody. :)

Sometimes, iam absent due to being sick? feeling unwell. Because of that my blogs might not be complete and If i ask my friends i am confused by their dates. So, i apologize if there is anything missing. :(

Reflection November 4th 2010

Today, we had our "16 bars Pentatonic melody creation" assesment. It wasn't so bad because, I was able to answer all the questions completely without any hesitation. I submitted my melody last week (on time) and iam very proud of that. Some, of my friends didn't submit their melody on time and that made Mr Sadrakh quite upset. I hope my friends learnt their lesson and that they will not do it again. I hope when i get my assesment paper score i will get a good score/highscore! :)

Reflection November 1st 2010

Today, is an exciting day for me. It is exciting because, first we had our written test on Asian traditional music (kind of easy to me) and then, we gave our melodies that we made from the Pentatonic scales to Mr Sadrakh. I could fill up all the questions in the test until they were all full. I also finished my melody. (I hope it's good) Before we went Mr Sadrakh also gave us.........OUR BOOKLETS!!!! I finally got it back and showed it to my parents they were very proud of me! :) :) :)

Reflection October 28th 2010

Today, we reviewed about pentagonic scales. I also practiced to make my melody from the pentagonic scales. Nathan, Qinthara and Choi also practiced making their melody. I think mine didn't sound that good to me. It sounds a bit like Javanese music but worse. At home, i will find ways to improve/make it sound better. I have also studied for the test next week. I think im ready.

Reflection October 23rd 2010

Today, my classmates and I learned about a different kind of scale called pentagonic scales. It was pretty easy to me. I think its easy to my friends too. Mr sadrakh also gave us a new assesment to do, we have to make a melody from either pentagonic scale 1 or 2. He also told us there is going to be a test about the asian traditional songs. I hope i will get a highscore I promise i will study!

Reflection October 27th 2010

Today, we reviewed about scales and triads again so we can remember. Mr. Sadrakh also advised us to study them at home again and memorize them.We also got our music test and booklet scores today. I have to say i did pretty well on the booklet i got full score and up. I hope that next time I will improve on my scales and triads test and get a full or high score on it because, I didn't really do good on that. But, i will learn more and study harder so next time I can achieve my goal!!! :) :) :)

Reflection October 18th 2010

Today, some of the groups redo their slide show presentation because they were not satisfied with their scores. My group and I are already very satisfied with our score because we did pretty well and so we got 9 out of 10!!! that was the highest score in our whole class. Im very proud that we could get a good score.

Reflection October 7th 2010

Today, was really cool. Qinthara and I sang the korean traditional childrens song with the title "Doong Gul Ge." It was a really fun and energetic song. Although, sometimes Qinthara and I get a bit confused because we cannot speak Korean and it was a really fast song we couldn't keep up with the music. But, in the end i think i did a pretty good job because i sang loudly and clearly that I got a 9 out of 10. I think i didnt get a full score because I didnt memorise the song that well. I memorised some easy parts but not most of it.

Reflection October 4th 2010

Today, we did some interesting things which were really exciting! We had awritten test about triads, flats & scales. It wasn't that hard or that easy, but i could do it anyway. After that, we sang Asian songs according to our music assesment. My song was a Korean children song which was very cheerful and happy. I liked it and I think it was really inspiring to me.

Reflection September 30th 2010

Today, we reviewed our lesson about triads again. We also reported about what we have done so far for our music assesment. Some of our classmates from other groups didnt cooperate with their groups. I think our group is doing good, we all contributed some information and/or pictures to Qinthara and she put it together to make the powerpoint. I gave Qinthara information about Korean traditional instruments. I also helped Qinthara to report about it, that was really fun.

Today, we are starting on a new topic about scales, triads and flats. I hope i can memorise them all. They are quite easy but complicated to me. I will study at home and understand them so i will  achieve my goal. I also hope my other classmates will understand also.

Today, we got our new group assesment, which is to find an asian song and perform it. My group got picked to do  a korean traditional song. we are going to start doing our research soon. Qinthara's our group leader, i believe she will do really well. I hope our group work will be excellent.

Reflection 6th September 2010

Today, we had our music assesment. I played an Indonesian traditional song called "potong bebek angsa." I practiced this song yesterday a lot of times for 40 minutes, so i think i deserve my high score. My friends did pretty well too. They also got highsores!

Today, we were given our next assesment which was about traditional asian music. I have to research about Korean's traditional music. My group leader is Qinthara, and i know she will be a good leader. I hope our group will do good and get a highscore in this assesment.

Reflection 6th September 2010

Today, we had our assessment on playing a Indonesian children song. I picked the song Potong Bebek Angsa. It is a very simple and fun song. I really enjoyed this assessment. I hope we will have more assessments similar to this one. At first, I didn't really do it well, but at the end of the sessions we could redo and I got a higher score than before (before was 6.5 now it's 8!) My friends also got good scores, some of them even got a full score! To achieve this, I practiced a few times each day for 30-40 minutes each. I am very satisfied with my score this time. I think the challenging thing to do today, was to go and perform in front of my friends because, I get stage fright a lot. Even though I have stage fright, I still try and end up having a great laugh. Did I mention that this is my last visit to music for this term? This also my last reflection for this term. Reflection 2nd September 2010

Today, thankfully Inka gave Mr.Sadrakh our hard copy. I hope our scores won't be too low so we can pass to the 7th grade. We had music theory for two periods today because we had to practice for our assesment on Monday. Everybody in our whole class chose the song "Potong Bebek Angsa." I guess it was the simplest indonesian song there is. I haven't started practicing yet, but afterschool when I get home I promise to do so. I hope on Monday I will get either a high score or a full score.

Reflection 30th August 2010

Bad news... Inka our "group leader" let us all down. She was absent today without even telling anybody the day before. She hasn't gave Mr.Sadrakh our printed hard copy for our assesment. Without the hard copy, we will only get four points out of ten maybe. Today, I was very dissapointed in her and so was my other teammates in the violin group. But, on the bright side we asked Mr.Sadrakh to give us until the next meeting. Mr.Sadrakh agreed to that suggestion. Let's just hope Inka comes next meeting with the hard copy.

Reflection 26th August 2010

Today, my violin group and I presented our assesment which was in the form of a slideshow. I must say we did pretty well. I was dissapointed when I found out that some of the members of the violin group didn't contribute or cooperate very good.I could tell that Mr.sadrakh was also dissapointed in us because I know that he expected us to be the best but we let him down (sorry again Mr.Sadrakh please forgive us for humiliating you) I was nervous during the whole presentation, but I managed to say something everytime nobody knows what to say. I hope that our group will pass though cause we haven't gave the printed hard copy to our teacher so we will next week, our leader Inka is in charge to print and give it to Mr.Sadrakh.

Absent

I was absent for two meetings which was on the 16th and 19th of August 2010. So i'm truly sorry but I don't really know what was going on so i cannot write a blog about what happened during these dates.--"

Reflection 12th August 2010

Today, my violin group and I explained to our other classmates what we have done for our project. Most of us, like myself has researched and found out that there is a gong in both Sumatera and Bali. It was quite challenging for us to find an instrument that is both in Sumatera and Bali. We already have some facts about the gong. Although, in the middle of our presentation our group was either nervous or didn't know what to say because we lost track and kinda lost track (If you're reading this sorry Mr.Sadrakh...) Although it was also fun being able to talk to our class and share about what we are doing for our project.

Reflection 5th August 2010

Today, we didn't really do much because some of our classmates weren't really satisfied with their scores, so Mr. Sadrakh let them redo the assesment if they wanted to. Some of them got their score a bit higher and some improved a lot. Mr.Sadrakh gave us homework about scales intervals. I also didn't redo my assesment because I was already satisfied with my score and i was also nervous to do it again. I will finish my homework that Mr.Sadrakh gave me and i hope that my classmates will also do the same.

Reflection 2nd August 2010

Today, we learned about the two sharp scale. I have already memorised the G & A major scale and also their intervals. I find it challenging for me to learn this two sharp scale because I keep forgetting which notes has the sharp in it. We also did our solo singing assesment today. I was very nervous but in the end I got a high score (eight!) I liked that Indonesian song, i thought that it was very cultural and also a bit simple to remember, I only remembered the chorus though, because i didn't really practice much. I hope next week i can already remember the two sharp scale!

Reflection July 29th 2010

Today, our music lesson was quite simple and also fun because Mr. Sadrakh always says funny things in the middle of class. Today, we have started learning the G major scale which is also called the one sharp scale. I have memorised it fully except for the interval. I can also play this scale correctly on the violin. Most of my other classmates can too except for some people who don't practice much. I hope that next week, I can fully memorise the G major scale and it's interval beats. ^^ 

Reflection July 26th 2010

Today, I learned about the natural scale which is the C major scale. We played a mini quiz with mr. Sadrakh to get familiar with it. I have already memorized it because i have revised it over and over again. I think today I was an inquirer because I asked a lot of questions to learn more about the natural scale. I can already play this scale on my violin, my other classmates can also play it on their individual instruments too. I hope I will not forget this basic scale even though I have already moved to a higher grade.
