Warning! This reflection might be the last one for some time :) gonna miss writing my blogs!

Today, we had our Music Development Booklet reflection time :P It wasn't that fun because we had to write and write and reflect and write A LOT. It was actually interesting but also painful. We had to write four paragraph reflections for each criteria. We also had to fill in all the blanks so that was tiring, at first it was easy because we had a lot of stuff on our mind to write down but as we got to the end and Criterion C and D i sort of ran out of things to say. I did pretty good though ;) We didn't have instrument class which i think is unfortunate because this is the last music session for a while. Well, I hope the next time we have the Music subject it'll go as well as this year. Or even better...

Reflection May 25th 2012, Friday

Today, we got our music reflection journals back after Mr Sadrakh collected them to check if we were doing our reflections. My Baroque performing song assessment score is confirmed (7/10) which I am okay with, I'm not thrilled but I more than passed so thats good enough for me :) We had a choice to redo the assessment today or not but i decided not to because i would be nervous again and i already passed anyway ^^ (6/10 is the min. passing score.) We also got our solo singing scores back and i got 10/10!~ ~ ~ I dont know if i ever mentioned that before in my earlier posts but just in case. I'm very happy with my score and i think my whole motivation is Madilyn, because when it was her turn she wouldnt sing out loud because our classmates where pretty mean about these things. I decided to stand up for Maddy by singing without fear and it worked :) I think the lesson here is to believe you can and not to judge others. Our class however, have trouble doing so :(
P.S we didn't have instrument class today because of the people redo-ing their assessments all of them improved a lot and got better scores :D

Today, we had our "performing a song written during the Baroque era" assessment. I practiced playing my assigned song (Minuet 3 by Bach) a lot with and without my teacher and at home i can play it with minor mistakes but today in school, it was ll very scary and i couldn't really concentrate. I got too nervous that i played the song a little too fast and some parts which i could not play fast i messed up on. I did feel less nervous this time than usual Music-instrument-playing or singing type assessments so i did improve. :) We got our scores for the written assessment/quiz i got 8/8 and this blog reflection score, (also 8/8) the actual due date for the blogs isn;t today so Mr Sadrakh gave more time for us. Good thing i updated them already :p We didn't have instrument class today. I found out my Baroque song performance score at the end of the class and i got 7/10. Mr Sadrakh told me to redo my assessment on Friday though. I dont really get why because i passed already and got 70% already. I don't really want to redo agin because i dont like the feeling of performing infront of my unsupporting class but i'll think it over. :)

Today, some people performed their assessment song again. I didn't though but I'm still practicing at home :). We reviewed the notations and some people had to go infront of the class and sing the notes in a random order. I was happy i didn't get picked because i really don't like to sing infront of the class because they can be a little..."unencouraging". We did the basic C Major scale (C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C) and sang the notes (DO-RE-MI-FA-SO-LA-TI-DO) It was actually quite fun. We had normal instrument class but Mr Sadrakh was absent and we were supposed to get a subtitute (Ms Marie) but all of the violin students agreed to not have a substitute and just rehearse our songs individually. We did a pretty good job too, considering the fact we had no supervisor. :p

Reflection May 16th 2012, Wednesday

Today, some people did the practice assessment again and they were pretty good. Madilyn performed again and apparently now she has to play Canon as a duet with William, I think they'll do pretty well. We had a normal instrument class and we practiced more this time. I practiced my song too and i wasnt that good. I hate nerves :( I think if i keep practicing i'll beat them but we'll see. This is a short reflection because today wasnt that elaborate

Reflection May 11th 2012, Friday

Today, we reviewed musical notations (C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C) I'm not bad at finding which note is which but i do have to think first and count to see which note is which. It isnt that challenging for me but i can't find notes by ear like Mr Sadrakh :p The remaining students who didnt perform the practice assessment last meeting performed today. I did too and it was very nerve wrecking and scary because every one was watching. I knew i was gonna do bad because of my nerves :( I think Madilyn did the best job (she played Canon by Pachelbel) I will keep practicing until the day of the assessment and hopefully my nerves won't get the best of me then.

Reflection May 9th 2012, Wednesday

Today, we had a short assessment rehearsal. Most of us played today but the rest, including me, waited for Friday. I wasn't ready and was very nervous so I think Friday would be better. Instrument class went well, we practiced our songs individually. I'm goint to play Minuet 3 by Johann Sebastian Bach. I really like the song and have learnt it before. I'm not too bad at it but i get really nervous when i perform infront of the whole class and usually lose focus and don't play as well so i'm practicing a lot to prevent that :) I will keep practicing

Today, in theory class, we read a worksheet about Johann Sebastian Bach's life and works and then answered some questions about it on the back of the paper. It was not hard to do at all and it was suprisingly fun to do (: Now, we know more about his life, i learnt that he wasn't famous when he was alive and he married two times in his whole life. He also came from a family of great musicians and everyone in his town who was a good musician would be called a "Bach." I think his life is pretty interesting. In instrument class some of us practiced our assessment song infront of the class. I didn't get to and i didn't really want to. I don't like performing infront of people. Unless i need to, i am still practicing at home though and im almost doing it perfectly. (:

Reflection May 2nd 2012, Wednesday

Today, we finally had our Baroque composers short essay assessment. (It was postponed from last week, Friday.) The test was basically a paper with questions about the Baroque period and it's different music styles. I reviewed last week and this week and right before the test so i pretty much remembered everything. I had a problem with concerto and the names of the composers and where they were from though ): I hope I'll still get a good score. We didnt have instrument class today due to our assessment but Mr Sadrakh did tell us that our next assessment would be to play a composition from the Baroque period and he chose for us to play Minuet 3 (as i said before) Therefore i will practice to play it. Good thing we still have a lot of time.

The whole grade 7 went to Waterbom today so we didnt have any classes including Music. Will study for the essay assessment on Baroque composers though ;)

Today, we reviewed our Baroque booklets to study and practice for our upcoming assessment on Baroque composers, music and the era. I practiced with the help of the internet because i didn't do that well in the Baroque booklet and only got 6. I asked some of the other students who had the assessment before us and they told me the basic things in the assessment and i focused on the points. I don't think it will be that hard but we'll see but yes, i did read up on it (:. In instrument class Mr Sadrakh announced to us that we would have to play Minuet 3 from Suzuki 1 for the Baroque era song playing assessment AFTER the written assessment. I don't think that will be a problem for me either because i have studied and played the song with my violin teacher and that was one of my favourite songs to play. I'm just worried that i'd end up doing bad because of the pressure and everyone looking. I'll practice for it though.

Today, we didn't really do much. We watched some of our classmates redo their solo singing assessment because they didn't suceed at first. I think all of them did way better than their first time :) I hope they all pass. The majority of the class haven't recieved the solo singing scores but the ones who didnt have to redo got at least 6, i think. But i passed! Yay! The woodwind/saxophone instrument class had to share a room with us because their teacher was absent. We all played the A Major scale. It didn't sound so good because we had different instruments, we never did that and we only had about 10 minutes left so we were all kinda rushing :)

Today, we had our solo singing assessment where we had to sing "Santa Lucia" an Italian opera song. I think i did pretty good and way better than last time. I was nervous and memorising the words was pretty easy but the challenge was to have enough confidence to stand infront of the whole class and actually sing the song. We also got a new reflection booklet that Mr. Herry made for all of us. From now on, we are required to write our reflections in the booklet and then copy it or interpret it more on our blogs. I think it's a good idea so we won't forget what to write when we get home, but it requires us to exert more effort. Thanks Mr. Sadrakh :) :p

Today, we only had instrument class for awhile because we were practicing for our singing assessment. I partly memorized the song already but i have some difficulties in remebering the melody. I'm nervous already and dont want to sing solo because the pressure will make me forget all the lyrics and everything :S nevertheless, i will still continue to practice and hopefully get a high score :) We also had to read our baroque composers booklet again to get ready for the upcoming assessment after the singing assessment which is (yup u guessed it) about the Baroque era. I'm not too nervous about that one because it's just a written assessment and we dont have to perform. We also have a baroque music performance assessment soon*. I will learn everything though and hopefully ace them all.

*note: I do NOT really know all the different dates of each assessment too many! (it's on the assessment table though) :)

TERM 4 Reflection April 11th 2012, Wednesday

Today was the first day of music for term 4 :D and we're off to a good start too. Mr Sadrakh gave us our new assessment of the term which will take place next week. It's safe to say that i am very scared because the assessment is next week, the song is in ITALIAN and we have to sing SOLO!!!! :S But the good news is that we got our scores for this music reflection blog and the baroque composers booklets back from last term. I'm absolutely gobsmacked at my music reflection blog score because.... I got 8/8! I think it is appropriate based on all the effort i put into doing this blog I'm sorry if some of my posts are shorter than usual. I hope i can keep it up for this term too :) and the solo singing? Well, just wish me luck ;)

Today, was a good day :) We got back our performing assessment scores and let me tell you, i was very suprised because i didn't expect to get a good score and i got a 9/10. We also didn't have instrument class today because we spent the whole 2 sessions getting our scores and filling in reflection booklets about the blogspot reflections. I think i did really good on reflections because i always update my blog. TEEHEE. Some people who didn't get the best scores got to redo today too. P.S this will be my last reflection for a while because tomorrow's the last day of term 3 and we have a break for a week. Xx

Today, Mr Sadrakh announced that he has already decided on our scores for the criterion: "Personal Engagement" which is our attitude during Music classes. He didn't tell us the results though. Today was also a big day because we had our assessment to play our melodies/our group's melodies. I think i did pretty bad. Worse than usual. I think it's mostly because
1. I didn't have time/really practice
2. I partly forgot that the assessment was today
3. I was really nervous and unconfident
I know i could've done better but it's also unfair because we had to be put in a situation where some people are so insecure they can't perform their song. Well, i tried though. I'm not gonna get a high score but i'm just saying that at least i had the experience. Also, we did't have much time to practice in instrument class because Mr Sadrakh just converted most of our melodies last week and we didn't get as much practice as the other instrument classes. Sorry. I speak the truth. Please don't sue me.

Reflection March 16th 2012, Friday

Today, Mr Sadrakh told us about the criteria's in Music and the MDW which each of us have (Music Development Workbook) We also reviewed about our blogs and reflection. I don't have all my reflections in my music book because i either don't write it or just write bulletpoints so i can remember what we did today and later write the REAL reeflection in the blog. Mr Sadrakh has already converted my melody into A Major so it is easier to play, he did it during Instrument class and we just tried to practice the melodies as much as we can.

Reflection March 14th 2012, Wednesday

Today, we just reviewed our FINALE scores and why we got them. I got 8/10 because i didn't put the chords. We are done with the Music part of our IDU now. Right before Music class we had PE and we used our group's song for the movement composition performance and it does fit. We also finished the English oral assessment. I think our group's music composition was pretty good, in Instrument class Mr Sadrakh got some of our FINALE works and he converted them into A Major so it'll be easier to play. He hasn't converted mine yet because i haven't printed more copies of it plus we didn't have enough time to.

Reflection March 9th 2012, Friday

Today, we had to perform our PE assessment with our group's melody so we could practice. Our group didn't use the melody though because Mr Sadrakh had to do something with the keyboard. We didn't perform that well :( (>_<)because we were nervous, shy an dwe din't really remember the movements. Plus, it was awkward because there wasn't any music and it was very quiet and we are the only group in 7B who has a boy and a girl in it so it is kinda hard to work together. CUT US SOME SLACK! But the good news is that Mr Sadrakh gave us our booklet scores today aand i must say i'm quite satisfied with my score. i got 6/8 YAY! As much as i would love to get 8 i din't but i more than passed and it's 80% so, im good. :P :D :) And today we finally did something in instrument class \o/ we practiced our A Major scales because Mr Sadrakh said he would convert all our melodies/group melodies into A Major. It wasn't really hard to play but at first it was because well, we never relly played the violin in school for a long time. After a few times we got the hang of it though ;)

Today, we got our FINALE and booklet scores. I got 8/10 for the FINALE task, which I think is pretty good considering i don't know how to put the chords (i don't understand it's not my fault)I asked Mr Sadrakh how to put them but he said he'll teach me next time because we didn't have enough time. In Instrument class we got to actually play something. We practiced the A Major scale a little which is better than nothing or usual because then we would have to bring our violins for nothing :P

Today, Mr Sadrakh just asked people that haven't submitted their blog URL (website)to write it down. I already gave it so no problem. Mr Sadrakh gave us a lecture on LIFE and something about arrows and chickens in our instrument class (not that that's bad..) I have nothing else to write so this is a very short reflection. I'm sorry. :P :D Furthermore, nevertheless and jacuzzi. Till next time...

Today, Mr Sadrakh was back and he asked us our IDU group members. Most people already did the blogs but forgot to send Mr Sadrakh the URL/Website. I forgot too but already did recently, i hope Mr Sadrakh gets it. We also did our assessment booklets on the Finale task. I STILL dont understand how to put the chords on top of each bar???? Instrument class was the same but Mr Sadrakh told us we would start the real instrument class (real, as in we actually practice and play the violin) on Friday ad that we would be practicing and playing our melodies or our group's melodies (Mr Sadrakh will pick it soon.) :P

Reflection February 24th 2012, Friday

Today, Mr Sadrakh was absent so Mr Hary subsituted our class and we submitted out Finale works to him. In instrument class we didn't do anything because we only got a substitute teacher and she teaches EL and she can't play violin and Mr Sadrakh doesn't give us songs to play. (not that that's bad..) ;) Mr Harry didn;t say much or taught us much just how to use the Finale software properly :p.

Last week i was absent so i didn't write my blog. Today, i found out we were supposed to do a 32 bar composition in Finale and submit our Barouque composers booklet. I already submitted the booklet though, i'm also doing the composition right now. I will submit it this Friday. It isn't that challenging to me because we already have the chords but i wish we could just write it in our music books because it's easier and i dont know how to erase a note if it's wrong but i can undo it though. Many people didn't have the Finale homework either because they had difficulties in printing the finished work or simply, forgot to do it. I hope i can finish it and submit it on time and have no problems in printing or anything. :D In instrument class we just discussed how we shouldn't be late to Mr Sadrakh's class. (music theory)

Reflection February 15th 2012, Wednesday

Today, we were supposed to give our assessment booklets on Baroque Composers but Mr Sadrakh gave us an extended due date. I think that's unfortunate because we worked really hard (well, the people who finished their booklets already) to finish the assessment for today just to find out that we didn't really need to submit it today. Oh well...we got the contents of what we should have in our Baroque composers booklet today and i think that's dumb because we're supposed to get it before we even started so we can all get perfect/better scores. I din't do some of the contents but i already printed and bindered it so, i'm not gonna redo it again. We didn't have instrument class today but, we got our "FINALE" copies on our USB's already yay. Mr Harry also told us to make the blog and how for the new students, although i still remember mine :p

Reflection February 10th 2012, Friday

Today, we reviewed the chords again. I think i have memorized most of them its still quite confusing to remember which chord is which though. I started my booklet today hopefully it is correct and i can finish it in time because we have so many projects and hw's to do right now. '~' We didn't have time to get the copy of finale though i think Mr Sadrakh forgot about that oh well i'll remind him/ask for the software next week. Instrument class was very short today because we had to copy down a melody that Mr Sadrakh made but that's okay i'll still practice at home though. :D

Reflection February 8th 2012, Wednesday

Today, we found out that we have to do our music assessment which is to make a booklet containing the biographies and works of Baroque composers. I think it will be a challenge and i will research more about them soon but i think Mr Sadrakh should at least tell us what exactly to put in our booklets because im kinda lost here. He also told us about a software to help us make our own song for the big assessment (the one for PE, Technology, English and Music.)it's called "FINALE" he showed us how to use it to. I think its very simple and useful for our assessment because we can now make the sog just by clicking and dragging notes on the screen and we can play the whole song there. On Friday, we have to bring our laptops so Mr Sadrakh can help install/give us a copy of the software. Instrument class was the same but it was fun :D

Reflection February 3rd 2012, Friday

Today, music theory class was kind of challenging to me because i didn't really memorize the chords to well. I can memorize them if you ask me from the 1st chord , 2nd etc. but not if you pick random ones. I'll work on that though. I forgot to bring my violin again today. I forgot because i'm not used to having music class anymore but i'll ge used to it soon. I also didnt do much research on the baroque composers only a little and i din't print it or anything. Instrument class was the same we haven't really done much (not that i mind)hehe :p i hope i have time to study at home next week and also memorize all the chords and intervals and also remember to bring my violin and other music stuff. (not that i didn't bring my journal, music book, writing tools and folder today, because i did.):D

REflection February 1st 2012, Wednesday

Today, we learnt about notations again and (still about scales too though) and we learnt about chords which is actually to play two or more notes at the same time to create the melody. We have to remember the 1st chord until the 7th chord. I hope i can remember them by next week. It isnt so hard for me though, we also got a music homework about Baroque style composers (min. 3) and we found out that we will have to make another booklet like last time but about Baroque style composers. I hope it won't be too challenging. In instrument class it was about the same and it isn't really challenging either but we still have to practice though. '~'

Today, we reviewed/learnt music notation and Mr Sadrakh said we will have to memorize it especially the new people. We also had normal instrument classes we didnt do much today except remember and repeat the music notation. Hopefully i'll remember it by next week :)

Reflection January 25th 2012, Wednesday

Today, was a very exciting and challeging day because we had our first assessmemt for music. We had to sing the "Hari Merdeka" song infront of the class with or without a partner (ofcourse no one wanted to sing solo) and since the girls in our class aren't equal, one of us had to sing twice. Chiora, Madilyn and i were gonna sing together as a group but we couldn't and i chose Chiora to be my partner after she had sang with Madilyn so she had to sing twice. I think i did pretty well considering the fact that i was very scared and nervous and it was my first assessment in music in quite a while. I found out that i got a great score i got 9/10 although it isn't perfect (i will try to be more confident and loud next time) it's still really good considering the facts. We also didn't have instrument class and..i brought my violin for nothing >:(

Reflection January 18th 2012, Wednesday

today, we had music class again and we learnt the scales (like last week) again but this time we have to memorize the spacing/counts between the notes. it wasn't sooo challenging for me because we have done this a few years ago but its kinda hard because i cant remember sometimes. We also startedour instrument class but this week we only discussed about lessons outside of school (violin lessons) and what suzuki book number we were all in because it is tyhe first week. But Mr Sadrakh said we will start practicing/playing the violin next week though.. 

Reflection January 13th 2012, Friday

Today was very new and exciting since we havent had music class for the past few years. We (like always) picked our instrument to study for the year today. i picked violin like last year bcuz i really dont want to keep changing plus, i want to focus on one instrument. We also reviewed a little bit about the scale C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C because the new students didnt have music OR music theory so they never used these notes b4. We also got our first assessment which is to sing the Indonesian anthem. We can sing with 2-3 people though. (YAY) Overall i hope this year music will be interesting,useful and also fun.*
